Pressure is the force applied by one object on the another. Force applied on the object is perpendicular to the surface of the object per unit area. It is represented by P.
The pressure is articulated as force per unit area articulated as
P = F/A
Where,
F = Force applied by the body (N)
A = Total area of the object (m2)
Hydrostatic Pressure Formula is given by
P = ρ × g × h
Where,
the height is h,
density is ρ,
gravity is g
Pressure Formula is used to compute force, density, area, pressure, height and gravity. The unit of pressure is Pascal (Pa).

Problem 1: A girl weighing 60 Kg wearing high heel shoes stabilises herself on a single heel. The heel is round with a diameter of 1.5 cm. Calculate the pressure applied by the heel on the horizontal floor?

Given:
Mass, m=60 Kg
\(\begin{array}{l}Radius, r = \frac{D}{2} = \frac{1.5\times 10^{-2}}{2}m\end{array} \)
Pressure is given by, P = F/A
Force, F = mg, and Area, A = πr2
Hence, P = mg/πr2
\(\begin{array}{l}P = \frac{60 \times 9.8}{3.142\times (0.75\times 10^{-2})^{2}} \end{array} \)
P = 3.32×106 Pa
Problem 2: A tank is filled with water is of upto 1m height. Calculate the pressure exerted on the bottom of the tank.
(Acceleration due to Gravity = 9.8 m/s2, Density of water = 1000 kg / m3).

Known:
Acceleration due to Gravity = 9.8 m/s2
Density of water = 1000 kg / m3,
The pressure is articulated as
P = ρ × g × h
P = 1000 × 9.8 × 1m
P = 9800 Pascal.
