Pear VC is an early-stage venture firm headquartered in Menlo Park, California. We specialize in pre-seed and seed stage investing. Our mission is to partner with founders at the earliest stages to turn great ideas into category-defining companies. At our core, we are a team of entrepreneurs and industry leaders whose collective expertise, operational experience and successful track record make us a trusted partner for founders.
In just 10 years, we have taken three companies public (DoorDash, Guardant Health, and Senti Bio) and seeded seven companies currently valued over $1B (including Branch Metrics, Gusto, Aurora Solar, and Viz.ai). Collectively, we have seeded startups that are now worth over $50 billion.
PearX
PearX is an early-stage bootcamp for founders with high-potential ideas. We have been leading pre-seed rounds for the last 10 years, and we believe a small-cohort, 14-week program is the most efficient way to start building a company.
We customize PearX for every company and adjust it to their needs. For this reason, we are very selective with our pre-seed investments (less than 1% acceptance rate, 15 companies per cohort).
What you’ll do
As the Head of Ops for PearX, you will work directly with the Investing Partner leading PearX to run the entire program. You are the single owner of all major aspects of the program, including application management, program management, and demo day. You lead the strategy around PearX communities, including our speaker series, mentorship, and alumni circles, and will be expected to iterate and improve the program on an ongoing basis. PearX is one of the most impactful strategic priorities for Pear, and you are expected to work closely with all members of the Pear team.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for:
Program Management: Running the entire 14-week program, including the schedule of events, speaker series, midpoint summit, and company onboarding
Demo Day: Managing all logistics around Demo day, including invite management, company pitch recordings, and day of logistics in partnership with our events team
Mentorship/Alumni Programs: Developing our mentorship and alumni programs to create highly engaged communities to support our companies
Outbound promotion: Lead the promotion of PearX and build brand awareness through investor office hours, subject matter summits, info sessions, and more.
Applications Management: Ensuring we have a failsafe process for reviewing, responding, and selecting PearX participants quickly
Fundraising Support: Managing company intros to investors and post demo day support to close financings
What you’ll bring
5+ years of work experience, preferably in an operating role at a startup, management consulting, or VC
A strategic, product-minded outlook - capable of taking an existing strategy and making it better
Detail oriented and able to manage multiple complex workflows
Experience working with founders or startups, or a strong desire to learn to do so
An appetite for building community with a growing group of ambitious founders - you are a people person at heart and get energized when speaking with founders
Clarity of thought and articulate communication
