Raw materials: Two parameters are involved in raw materials: wire diameter and surface treatment. The gabion box has 3 parts of the wire composition, mesh wire, edge wire/selvedge wire, lacing wire(binding wire) (P1) (detailed definition of visible standards: EN-10223-32013 and ASTM_975-97). The international common wire diameter is: 2.7(mesh wire), 3.4(edge wire/selvedge wire), 2.2mm (lacing wire/binding wire), the tolerance of diameter is ±0.05mm. In Philippines, mesh wire: 3.05, edge wire: 3.8/3.9, and binding wire: 2.2/2.4mm is common. There are various of surface treatment, galvanized/ zinc coated (generally using Class D and Class A -BS EN 10244-2:2001(P2)) and Galfan(zinc-aluminum) are most common. In recent years, zinc-aluminum-magnesium layer wire and PET wire(not metal wire) have been applied in high-quality gabion box projects in China because of their excellent service life.
Mesh: Firstly, we need to know how a mesh is defined. The general mesh is expressed by D*W(P3). the international common is 60*80mm,80*100mm, 100*120mm. In the actual production process, in order to reduce costs, the mesh is generally made larger. But it must be confirmed by client.
Size: length, width, height.
